Being obsessed with New York in the 1960s and 1970s, I realise that I live in a parallel world here in East Baltimore. When I walk down the streets of the Lower East Side nowadays, I stop and think that if I return to East Baltimore in 30-40 years, will the same drastic changes that took place in the Lower East Side, a neighbourhood whose past is very similar to East Baltimore's present, happen here? What will East Baltimore look like? Only time will tell I guess. For now, I'm trying to settle in.
