I debated not doing this mainly because I feel 2011 has been a lacklustre year for me in music, but I realised that I have done so every year since having this blog and I can't possibly break tradition! So without further a due, I give you the yuppie's top jams that I think came out in 2011 and were on my playlist in 2011.
The entire Tiger & Woods "Wiki & Leaks" album
Prisoner of Love - Jessica 6
With you - Carte Blanche (featuring Alexis Taylor)
Hold My Breath (Tiger & Woods Remix) - Holy Ghost!
The entire Tiger & Woods "Wiki & Leaks" album
- If you haven't heard this - you should. Probably the group I've danced to most in 2011, Tiger & Woods' first album "Through the Green" didn't make me move like their second release (except for "Gin Nation" - solid track). Their mystery adds to the funk.
- A remix of "Saturday Love"? YES please!
Prisoner of Love - Jessica 6
With you - Carte Blanche (featuring Alexis Taylor)
- I feel like if you have bad track, just add Alexis Taylor from Hot Chip on vocals and you can make the track 90 times better
- I think I played this one 10 times a day.
Hold My Breath (Tiger & Woods Remix) - Holy Ghost!
- [Catch] your breath! This remix is deemed "cross the dancefloor" worthy.
- I am a huge fan of Junior Boys, but the past two albums have not compared to "So this is goodbye". The latest album "It's all true" is aiight, with a few tracks that will make you hit play over and over. My personal replays are "Itchy Fingers" and "Second Chance"
- "If I ever feel better" is my favourite Phoenix song and when I found this remix, I was sceptical since, well, how can you make this song better? The remix doesn't necessarily contribute to the song, it merely adds a different flavour to it.
- "Wasting your days, chasing some girls alright, chasing cocaine to the back rooms of the world all night." The masters of mash-up hip hop do it again.
- Metronomy never disappoints.
- This isn't just here to support Toronto boys, all these tracks are mad dope and they deserve a big applause.
- The dream pop sounds of the Radio Dept ooze nostalgia, it's a feeling that can't be helped.
