1,2,3...hit it!

It's been three years since I first started The Yuppie Activist, inaugurated with this post. What to say, what to say...I've been slacking in my posting. I've also not been as engaging as usual or just irrelevant which is what explains the silence among the readers, who still happen to exist (according to google analytics)!

In light of that first post, I revisit where I was then and switch it up for the now. It'll give you an idea of what's the same and what's changed since.

It's still not a comeback and I've still been blogging since mid '07. Ottawa Street Style's commitment has practically faded, and I've moved to Baltimore to pursue a Master of Arts in Social Design. I think we're done with the hinting most people know who it is, let's get to the good stuff, shall we?

• My ethnic background continues to be as mysterious as the colour of my eyes and hair for that matter. People still think I'm dark despite my fair complexion merely because my hair is dark. Doesn't work that way.
• I'm even more highly educated. Highly means I dropped $35,000 (minus a few more thousands for scholarship) in one year for an MA.
• 4 still applies
• 5 still applies
• 6 still applies
• 7 still applies. However, I have watched television since that post as a previous roommate of mine insisted we get cable. Since cancelling the cable, I have found TV on the internets, mostly in the form of "The Wire" because I live in Baltimore.
• 8 still applies.
• My hair cut is not as cool as it once was, the greys have hit me hard, and I sold the condo I used to call home. Now I live in an apartment I can actually afford because it's in the hood. It's all part of the programme, plus I have a studio downstairs so that's pretty damn cool.
• 10 still applies.
• I've learned more recipes but can't be unique with my cooking. I continue to be quite the wall painter, read a lot (too many at the same time for that matter) and illustrate.
• 12 still applies.
• 13 still applies. Now it's even more madness. I started Kalimat, a magazine about Arab thought and culture, which consumes my life, but I love it, and hope to accomplish the long term goals I have for the organisation.
• I'm unsure about 14. I'm going to have to get back to you on that one.
• Who would I be without my sense of humour and sarcasm?

And there you have it...three years later. There are a few things I should add but I'll leave it at that! Thank you to all those that [still] read this blog - I truly appreciate the time you take to click the link and read the posts and I hope 2012 will bring some interesting content!
